Up until 1972 Marlins serial numbers began with a letter that corresponded to a year.
From 1973 on the formula changed. You take the first two number in the serial number and subtract them from 100 to get the year made. So your first two numbers are 18. Subtract 18 from 100 and you get 82. Your .30-30 was made in 1982.
