Aims and objectives of water harvesting
who invented rainwater harvesting
by rainwater harvesting
There are two types or rainwater haversting. Rooftop rainwater harvesting and drain harvesting. In rooftop rainwater harvesting, we use the water collected on rooftops instead of letting it go down the drain. We can also use water collected in dugout ponds, underground vessels etc. Drain harvesting involves letting water collected in roadside drains go straight to the ground. But this water has to be treated before use as it may contain bird faeces, germs and other pollutants.

Objectives and aims
The aims of rainwater harvesting are to collect and store rainwater for various uses, thereby reducing dependence on conventional water sources. It helps in mitigating flooding, recharging groundwater, and promoting sustainable water management. Additionally, it can improve water quality and reduce soil erosion while providing a cost-effective solution for irrigation and domestic needs. Overall, it supports environmental sustainability and resource conservation.
