the longest living known animal is a clam that was alive and pulled from 250 feet of mud by the sea in Iceland. It was called an ocean quahog and had to be killed to examine its age, which they do so by slicing through the shell to count the layers like you count rings on a tree. It was between 405-410 years old.

Turritopsis nutricula jellyfish (aka: the immortal jellyfish) is the longest living animal on the entire planet, it is considered to have the longest lifespan because the maximum lifespan for this would be impossible to estimate due to it's spectacular ability to multiply new cells when times get tough; although they are biologically immortal... that doesn't mean they aren't invincible, all they have to worry about is avoid being eaten. There cells can transform into other kind of cells unlike any creature on the planet!
