Since there is no country or culture on the continent, it's reasonable to assume that a popular annual event would be either sunrise or sunset, which occurs on a different day depending on where you are on the continent. For example, at the South Pole, sunrise takes place about September 21 and the sun sets about March 21.

Farther north, at the Antarctic Circle, the event takes place after a single 24-hour period without a sunrise/ sunset.
