The telephone country code for the Dominican Republic is +1, the same as the USA, Canada, and certain other Caribbean and nearby islands. The entire Dominican Republic uses three area codes, 809, 829, and 849, in an area code overlay. That means that any telephone number in the Dominican Republic might be in any of those three area codes.

If you are calling from the USA, Canada, or the other Caribbean islands in the North American Numbering Plan, just dial "one plus," the same as a domestic long distance call. However, international rates will apply.

If you are calling on a mobile phone, just dial +1, followed by the area code (809, 829, or 849) and the 7-digit number.

If you are calling on a landline phone outside North America, dial your international access prefix, followed by country code 1, the area code, and the number. The most commonly used prefix is 00, but many countries use other prefixes.
