There is an excellent small museum in the Visitor Center, explaining the context of the battle, the course and main events of the battle itself, and the results. The battlefield itself is just beside the Visitor Center, and remarkably unchanged since that small but crucial battle of the Revolution. Along with King's Mountain nearby three months earlier, outsized, disproportionate results were obtained from these two Patriot victories, considering the few men involved. The Cowpens is still in a very rural area, so there has been little threat to the battlefield from modern land development.
The Battle of Bentonville was the largest North Carolina battle of the US Civil War and see the Cowpens National Battlefield as a major Revolutionary war battle.
