It is a branch of Biology and medicine which is the study of the structure of living things. The name comes from "ana" meaning to separate, and "tomy" meaning to cut. There are two main branches of anatomy, and they are gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. Gross anatomy would be the study of the parts/organs and their functions, while microscopic anatomy would be the study of the cell structures of whatever organs.
