Best Answer

(Relative is the relative to hydrogen bit)

Relative Atomic Mass:12

Proton number:6

The actual mass depends on how much carbon you have.

Atomic number=protons which=electrons. Atomic Mass is the mass of one atom of that element, measured by an atomic mass unit (amu). Hydrogen has an atomic number of one, because it has one proton, therefore, one electron in a neutral atom. neutrons=atomic mass minus (-) atomic number.

Atomic number is the number of protons.

Atomic mass is roughly the number of protons plus the number of neutrons. However, there is usually a slight discrepancy due to the mass defect (or binding energy). Also, for a given element it is a type of average, since most naturally-occurring elements are a mix of various isotopes.

What do you do with an atomic number and an atomic mass?

The atomic number is the number of a chemical element in the periodic table of Mendeleev; the atomic number is equal to the number of protons and electrons. The atomic mass is the mass of an atom expressed in relative atomic mass units.

Can you use the atomic number and atomic mass to calculate the number of each subatomic particle?

atomic number = number of protons = number of electrons atomic mass = mass of protons + mass of neutrons
