The price of a castle in Europe varies considerably, depending upon condition, location, type and facilities and amount of land.

A quick look suggests a very small castle could set one back a few 100k, to a largish one in a prime location, 35 million, perhaps more.

But ~ 5 million would provide a wide choice. Shopping around, and a full structural survey would be recommended. One should allow a substantial budget for improvements, especially, since most castles would be historic buildings and modifications are likely require permission.

Currency - Euros.

These would seem outstanding value, compared with John Lennon's former house outside London, in Weybridge, Surrey UK, which is currently (August 2012) on offer for ~ £15 million! He only lived there for four years!

And it's just a house, albeit largish.
