Almost all OE starters last between 100,000 to 200,000 miles. They vary depending on what manufacturer made the starter, how good the parts were, and how close the tolerances were on the starter.
There is no true average. Conditions that can effect the life span include weather, climate and care of the vehicle and make/model. Most of the ones I've replaced were in the 10yr-15yr life span. I've noticed fords are more frequent due to how the starter engages(with their moveable field magnet design).
You dont it has a gearbox that is sealed for life
The starter in my 99 Camry went out after 10 years 185,000 km.
A starter can last the life of the vehicle or it may only last 50,000 miles. Normally though, a starter should last at least 100,000 miles. The more times you start the vehicle the shorter the life of the starter.
In 1987, the average life of a Volvo was calculated to be 20.7 years. I have experience with Volvo models that have been run up to 350,000 miles on the original engine and even the original automatic gearbox. I would personally estimate an average usefull life of circa 200,000 miles on the larger cars, but cannot advise on the 340 model that came with a choice of 1.4 and 1.7 litre Renault sourced engines, or the 400 series which again used a Renault sourced engine available in displacements ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 litres normally aspirated, and 1.7 litre turbo.

The cast of All the Days of My Life - 1982 includes: Norma Renault
This is an answer in general not just for a Renault. In general a camshaft does not wear out very fast. A camshaft should last for the entire life of the engine. If you ever take the engine apart for a rebuild you could inspect the camshaft then for wear.
disconnect your battery. disconnect the cable(s) on the starter. remove bolts from starter. pull starter out from bellhousing. enjoy life as you know it. eat crackers and tacos.
One indication that the starter is going bad in your vehicle is if the vehicle won't start but the battery is full of life. When the starter is the reason, a very audible click will be heard.
the starter motor is at the back of the engine to make life easy allso remove the alternator trust me this helps
