It costs $999.00 for the OS. That's just a standard edition of server 2008. Then the actual machine, for something half decent you'd probably need to spend about $600.00
So just for the actual bare minimum server, your looking at about just over $1,500.00 And again that's before you start putting your Exchange ($699.00) or ISA (you dont want to see the price of this) or sharepoint ($350.00) on it.
Then if you cant set-up the server yourself, most professionals charge between $65 - $120 per hour (depends on where you live and how "professional" the person is). And your probably looking about 3 - 4 hours, depending on what you want done.
