A regular menstruation lasts for a few days (usually 3 to 5 days, but anywhere from 2 to 7 days is considered normal.

The usual cycle of a woman is 28 days. But it is different for everyone. Usually every 25-30 days. Its not unusual to have irregular periods however, especially if you're young and have only been having periods a few years. A woman who experiences variations of less than eight days between her longest cycles and shortest cycles is considered to have regular menstrual cycles. There are many reasons to skip a period also like stress, medication etc. and sometimes these interfere with regularity.
