What is the backgroud on miles 'tails' Prower?

Oh, him? He's Sonic the Hedgehog's best friend. Sonic treats him like a little brother. He is 8 years old and is and expert when it comes to machinery. His twin spinning tails allow him to fly. When he's not flying on his own, he pilots the "Tornado", a special bi-plane that Sonic helped him build. Oh, and if you say "Miles Prower" really fast, it's an obvious little joke that SEGA made. See, it sounds like Miles Per Hour, doesn't it? Little Tails has been Sonic's friend ever since (according to SEGA) Sonic chased some bullies away when they were teasing him about having two tails. Tails does sound like a girl, but he's a BOY. Remember that. Well, people, that's pretty much it. WAIT! Tails is a fox and he's been on the Sonic show since 1991 when Sonic started.
