A Baha'i is a follower of Baha'u'llah.
Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity through a series of divine Messengers, whose teachings guide and educate us and provide the basis for the advancement of human society. These Messengers have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. Their religions come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God.
Bahá'u'lláh, the latest of these Messengers, brought new spiritual and social teachings for our time. His essential message is of unity. He taught the oneness of God, the oneness of the human family, and the oneness of religion.
Bahá'u'lláh said, "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens," and that, as foretold in all the sacred scriptures of the past, now is the time for humanity to live in unity.
Baha'u'llah is Persian for "The Glory of God."
Yes, it is the newest of the Abrahamic monotheistic faiths. If you want more detailed information:
The Baha'i Faith is the most recent of the Abrahamic religions, having begun in Persia in 1844 by one known as the Bab ('the Gate') who, similar to John the Baptist, paved the way for the appearance of the next Christ ('anointed by God') figure. Baha'u'llah ('glory of God') declared His mission in 1863 and His followers are now known as Baha'is ('followers of the Glory'). The Faith teaches that: 1) The purpose of life is to know and love God and to acquire heavenly virtues such as faith, wisdom and compassion; 2) Humanity learns about God and divine virtues by studying the lives and teachings of His Messengers (e.g., Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, et al.); 3) The religions that these spiritual Teachers brought are all connected like chapters in a book but fallible men have created division amongst them; 4) Humanity is now ready to recognize the oneness of mankind, equality of women and men; harmony of science and religion, value of education, spiritual nature of families, and the promise of world peace through spiritual means.
The literal translation of the Persian/Arabic word Baha'i means "follower of the glory (of God)". Baha is "glory" and the 'i is "follower of." Baha'is believe that throughout the history of mankind, God has sent progressive Revelations in keeping with man's physical and spiritual evolution as needs warranted. These Revelations from God were given to mortal men who embodied the Holy Spirit and were actually Manifestations of God in the flesh. In olden days they were called Prophet-Founders of the world's great religions (e.g., Krishna, Moses, Jesus).
In this Day/Age, Baha'is are followers of the Manifestation of God called Baha'u'llah (literally translated: the "Glory of God").
A Bahá'í is a follower of the Bahá'í Faith - founded in 1863 - and believer in Bahá'u'lláh as God's promised Messenger for this Age. Bahá'ís believe that God sent us His divine Messengers on different occasions; that founders of many of today's religions are really Messengers sent by the same God; and that, in the 19th century, God sent us two additional Messengers - known as the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh.
