in case of DC carbon brush is directly mounted on rotor and in case of AC it is connecting to rotor through slip ring.

What is the basic difference between dc current and ac current?

AC (Alternating Current) - It fluctuates from +ve to -ve (Ie- positive voltage to negative voltage), it does this constantly, hence why it alternates. DC (Direct Current) - It has a constant supply of electricity but the voltage does not change at all. It goes in one direction ONLY. Main difference: AC changes the voltages from positive to negative CONSTANTLY (current goes up & down), and DC has a continuous supply of current which flows IN ONE WAY.

What is a device that produces direct current by means of magnetism?

A dynamo. It is hard to produce pure direct current using the induction of a magnet on a coil. In a rotating coil the north and south poles of a magnet will normally cause the current to flow the opposite way, every half turn. In a dynamo, the spinning electromagnet in the centre of the field coils, has many separate windings. The current is switched to each coil make sure the magnetism only has one polarity, at each fraction of a turn. This switch is called a commutator.

What is a current consisting of charges that flow only in one direction called?

A Direct Current or DC direct current is a current consisting of charges that flow only in one direction.

Did Thomas Edison want direct current or alternating current?

Direct Current. His opponent, Nikolas Testa, wanted Alternating Current.

What is current flowing in One Direction?

There is two types of current. Direct current and alternant current. The one running in only one direction is Direct current.

What is the definition of commutator?

A commutator is an electrical switch that periodically reverses the current direction in an electric motor or electrical generator. A commutator is a common feature of direct current rotating machines.

What are the parts of a direct current generator?

there are many parts of a dc generator armature, field coil, yoke, body, rotor and commutator.

What is difference between output current and pulse current?

It is a language in electronics describing whether the output is a pulse or direct current for any output.

What is the difference between ac voltage and dc voltage?

access current ( like plugs in your house ) direct current (like batteries)

What is the difference when selecting a cable between AC and DC current?

AC. is alternating current and Dc is direct current. alternating equivalant to pulsating electricity while direct is a constant draw with little fluxuation.

What is the use of brushes in an electric motor?

Brushes transfer electricity to the commutator which is connected to the winding on the armature. The brushes and commutator form a electrical connection that is good when the brushes are stationary and the commutator is spinning. The commutator on a DC motor is sectioned to power different windings at different times, creating moving field necessairy to pull the armature off a direct current.

What is the difference between ac and dc grounding?

The difference AC and DC grounding is that AC is alternate current and DC is direct current. Grounding for both AC and DC is the same.

What is the difference altarnet current and direct current?

Direct current= flows in one direction ... AC flows in back and forward ..

What is commutation circuits?

the process of reversing the current through individual armature coils, and then conducting the direct current to the external circuit during the brief interval of time each commutator segment is passing under a brush

What is the difference between an alternator and a generater?

A generator generates Direct current electricity An Alternator generate alternating current In a car this current is run through rectifiers or diodes to convert it into DC.

What do Power supply symbols mean?

For instance, there is the difference between -direct current- and -alternate current- For example: a simple battery gives direct current, e bicycle-dynamo generates alternate-current, so plus becomes minus and vice versa several times a second. A symbol for direct current can be: ____ - - - A symbol for alternate current is a small sine-wave: ~

What is alternate current and direct current difference between?

Alternating Current (AC) is the type of electricity typically used in households. With AC, the magnitude and direction of electricity vary. Direct current (DC) is a source of electricity that does not vary in direction. An example of a DC source is a battery, or solar cells. The main difference between the two types of currents is simply the direction, as made quite clear by the names: AC = varied direction and magnitude where as DC = continuous current. Alternate current cannot stored but direct current can be stored examples in case of battery cells
