Different Dude: The word is Abiogenesis. Or possibly you wanted the older term "Spontaneous generation".

Someone Else: I have the same question on my science worksheet and since Abiogenesis isn't something we have learned yet, I would suggest putting Spontaneous Generation in the answer bar depending on your grade; if your in grades 6-8 I would suggest Spontaneous Generation. My sister is in a(n) older grade and she did Abiogenesis so just do it according to the grading standard.

Its called Spontaneous Generation. People thought that nonliving things could make living things (i.e Meat make flies) This was thought until Louis Pasteur made an experiment that shows that it is impossible for that to happen

What is the mistaken idea that living organisms arise from non-living sources?

it means that when decomposers decompose the remains animal and plant it absorts in soil e.g fossil fuel ,nitrates, minearals . This product is sucked by plants and they do photosynthesis which makes glucose and oxygen . Consumers eat plants and use oxygen

Why has spontaneous generation been called a mistaken idea by the scientific community?

Spontaneous generation was called a mistaken idea by the scientific community because it was based on incorrect assumptions about the origins of living organisms. The discovery of microorganisms and advancements in microbiology showed that living organisms do not arise from non-living matter spontaneously. This led to the rejection of spontaneous generation as a scientific explanation for the origins of life.

arise from non living resouces

How has spontaneous generation been used to help protect your food?

spontaneous generation means the mistaken idea that living things arise from nonliving sources. so it has nothing to do with protecting your food.

What is the theory that life come from life?

The theory that life comes from pre-existing life is known as biogenesis. This idea suggests that living organisms can only arise from other living organisms, rather than spontaneously generating from non-living matter. Biogenesis contrasts with the earlier theory of spontaneous generation, which proposed that living organisms could arise from inanimate substances.

Why is spontaneous generation a mistaken idea?

Spontaneous generation was mistakenly thought to explain how living organisms could spontaneously arise from non-living matter. However, this idea was disproven by experiments conducted by scientists like Louis Pasteur, who showed that living organisms only come from pre-existing life. This laid the foundation for the concept of biogenesis, which states that life only arises from other living organisms.

What was meant by idea of spontaneous generation?

What was supposed to be meant for the idea of spontaneous generation was that living things arise from living things through REPRODUCTION!!!!!!!!!!!BY ANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AND RICHARD!MY ANSWERSThe definition of spontaneous generation is the mistaken idea that living things can arise from nonliving sources.Which is impossible because you cant get something that lives from something that don't live. As if up top living things arise from living things through REPRODUCTION

The observation that organisms arise in locations where similar extinct organisms lived is referred to as what?

Biogeography

Does all living things originate from preexisting life?

Yes, according to the principle of biogenesis, all living things arise from preexisting living organisms through reproduction. This concept is supported by scientific evidence and observations of the reproduction and growth of living organisms.

What are Spontaneous Generation?

Spontaneous generation is a disproven theory that living organisms could arise from non-living matter. This idea was widely accepted in ancient times but was ultimately debunked by scientific experiments in the 17th century. It paved the way for the modern understanding of biogenesis, which states that living organisms can only come from preexisting living organisms.
