a GP saddle (Genreal Purpose)
If I am not mistaken, Gp stands for General purpose, which is a saddle cloth which you use everyday. Like if you are doing a spot of schooling or going for a hack. It wont be your best saddle cloth just a everyday saddle cloth. Hope this helps ~Laura~
This all depends on numerous things. In English, i prefer a kincade saddle. It has lasted me many years and barely has a scratch on it. It is also not to pricey. But, in western I prefer a billy cook saddle. Although, if u want a real nice show saddle, i suggest a Tahoe saddle which don't get to pricey.
Riding in Hunter Under Saddle is like Western Pleasure in English tack. A Hunter Under Saddle horse should move with long, flowing strides and should carry its head so that the poll is level with the withers! Both rider and horse should look slightly relaxed, but attentive. Hunter Under Saddle is about showing what a pleasure the horse is to ride!
Asking a friend or trainer would be the best thing to do, because it is important to know that you are doing it right.
First of all check your price range, sure you dont have to go and get the ,most expensive saddle on the market, however you do pay for what you get. You need something that will fit both the horse and the rider. I recomend stongly that you go through a saddler and he will give professional advice on what route to take. I reccomend: Martin Wilkinson (UK) Chris Ghols (UK) I have used them both for my saddles, i was espesially plesed with Chris Ghol. But dont think that just because you are going through a saddeler that the prices with be high, you can ask for second hand or the lower price ranges. A saddle is a very imporatnt part of riding UNLESS BAREBACK! , A bad saddle can cause a bad and that is when your horse will start to nap, buck, reer... so on. Go through a Saddeler and dont just buy a saddle of a friend or a random shop thinking that you can fit it yourself!! x The most expensive 1 probably! The 1 I got was recommended by pro and was SWEET!

Most saddles can be softened through regular use. However, if this doesn't work after a couple of weeks, it may be best to oil the saddle, to soften the leather. It the saddle is old and used to fit the horse, but has sunk and hardened, it may be best to re-flock the saddle (put in new foam to lift the saddle) so that the saddle fits correctly. For this, it may be best to call in someone with experience and this can be quite fiddly.
It Depends On what Your Doing. Dressage , jumping , Cross Country, Eventing Ect. But Warmbloods,Thoughbreds, and Saddlebreds Are Good!
Crosby Saddles. I have just started jumping and am looking for a Crosby saddle. They are amazing! You may also want to look for a used saddle. Wintec is also a good brand to look at. They make good quality synthetic saddles. Synthetic means that they are made without leather, shortening the expected lifespan of the saddle, but making it cheaper and easier to care for. Most Wintec saddles also have an adjustable gullet system so you can change the saddle to fit the horse more easily. If you are going to be showing though, you should check if synthetic saddles are accepted in your area.

Any western type saddle, or one of the specialty tack sets.
It would be best to buy a saddle, because bareback, if you fall off you mey get a fright and change to a saddle for more comfort. besides bareback does hurt after a while.
