Seven inches
as long as its not to big and not to small
The best kind would be a Syrian hamster. They live 1-5 years and are very playful.
The best hamsters irecommend are the Syrian hamster, the teddy bear hamsters, or the winter white hamsters. the Syrian hamster is a large hamster usually growing 4 to 5 inches. They are great first hamsters. the teddy hamsters are often furry and similar to the Syrian but grow to 3 to 5 inches. The winter white hamsters and playful fun and easygoing and grow 3 to 5 inches.
The best size cage for a Syrian hamster is one that is at least 24 inches long and 12 inches wide, with plenty of room for the hamster to move around and explore. It should also have a solid bottom to prevent injury and plenty of bedding for burrowing.
If the daddy hamster is a Syrian, seperate them immediately. But unless the daddy is a dwarf hamster, you can just leave it there as most of them are good fathers. But it's best to seperate them.
Try a Syrian hamster. This type of hamster is the biggest and hard to lose. They are very friendly. They also come in different fur patterns. Syrian types are: Panda bear teddy bear golden fancy longhair shorthair
The best place to get any hamster is at a reputable pet store such as PetsMart. You never know if a hamster will be nice until you get it home.
Personal opinion but I would say a syrian is rather easy to care for.
You don't need one, but it is best to have one. Hamster balls enable hamsters to get a session of good excersise. Although most hamster cages have wheels which provides excersise hamster balls enable you to controll the amount of excersise a hamster gets.
To be honest I don't think it really matters. I always had clear because I think that it is better for the hamster to see where the are going.
syrian hamsters are best i would say but they are known to bite. although mine has never bitten me.
