What is the best food to feed your cat with urinary tract problems other than prescription food from the veterinarian?

Any food with low ash is good for spayed/neutered cats. It is the ash in the food that causes urinary tract problems. The generic brands found at the grocery stores or Walmart are just as good as the urinary tract care products found at the vet's office but at half the price. I buy 9 lives urinary tract care at walmart in a 20lb bag for a little under ten dollars. I own 11 cats they are all spayed/neutered and they love it. Also if you want to make your own food, there are thousands of home made recipes using people grade ingredients that you can try and see which your cats like, it's all a matter of how much time and money you want to put toward it.

∙ 13y agowet food mixed with water and plenty of fluid if you can go to a vet or bring in a urine sample to them they will test it and if positive give you a prescription for amoxicillin. My cat at 2 month had constipation and then after enemas diarrhea and repeated wiping got a urinary infection and that's what they gave me and told me to do. Hope this helps
