Since 4.01 just came out a little bit ago people have been trying to find the best class and spec for highest dps. There are a couple classes right now that are extremely powerful, one being the arcane mage. It is so powerful, that Blizzard nerfed (adjusted their spells) big time. They can still be the top dog in raids right now. There are rumors that they may have been buffed as well, these are lies.
You also have to keep in mind that Blizzard is mostly balancing the spells and abilities of all the classes around being level 85, not 80. So what might be extremely powerful now, might just get replaced with another class.
Due to this balancing, it is possible to do the best damage with any class if you know what you're doing.
Best implies a value judgement which is subject to personal preference. There is no "best" class.
The Paragon (Warrior) is by far one of the best DPS class rift.
There are a couple things that decide what the best dps class is.1. Do you want to be melee or ranged.1.A Do you want to be magical or physical ranged dps?Mages are excellent at putting out ranged dps if played right. they are excellent at AoE (Area of Effect) dps, damaging a large number of mobs at the same time.1.B Physical ranged dps is liimited to just hunters so they are the best dps for physical ranged classes2.A Melee classes get in up close, rogues are excellent at getting in there and putting out huge numbers. The same can be said for paladins, but paladins just last longer due to using plate armor and having bubble shields.2. What class do you feel comfortable dps'ing as? No matter what class is best, if you are not comfotable with it, you will not do very well.
Either Orc or Troll Shamans seem to be the best for dps. They both have racial traits that can be activated to increase your DPS a little, temporarily. Other than that, there is not really a "best".

Most Warcraft players would agree that an Arcane/Fire hybrid spec provides the highest sustainable DPS for the mage class, making it the best specification for raids.
yes.. who are you?
It depends on what you want the Paladin to be...tank or dps. Tanking go protection and dps go retribution.
if your talking about spec, in terms of dps both elemental and enhance do almost 5-6k even with the dps tax if you know what your doing. in terms of race, however, i would get a troll for pvp, a shaman for soloing and group work, if your going horde. dreanai is the only choice for shamans of the alliance
for dps, invest your talent points into feral, so that way you can do mass amounts of damage as a bear or get critical hits as a cat
It stands for Damage per second. Higher is better. DPS can also be refered to as the act of applying damage to a target, or to refer to a class that has the primary role of damage (mage, hunter, warlock, etc.)
In the online game, World of Warcraft or WoW, there is one class that can use a spell called hex. That class is a shaman, characterized by their versatility, healer/dps status, and mail armor.
A player's average DPS will depend on many factors, including level, gear, talent spec, buffs from other players (in instances and raids, etc). It also depends on the player's skill with the class and how well he/she plays it.
