This depends on what environment you're hoping to keep the fish in. Hardy varieties, including singletails and sometimes fantails, will do far better in ponds than more delicate varieties. Fancy varieties are often smaller and produce less waste and are more suitable for small environments. Tanks with many decorations may be dangerous for bubble-eye goldfish due to their large, fluid-filled sacs, which can be pierced and damaged by sharp objects. Sight-impaired goldfish like telescopes/moors and celestials may be best in a tank with open space and with few competitors for food. The best goldfish depends on what you personally are seeking.
