Teach yourself.
Seriously, don't pay for lessons, just get hold of a guitar, a guitar chord book (I recommend the Guitar case chord book - it's long and thin, so it fits into the guitar case) and get yourself onto www.ultimate-guitar.com. That's how I learned and I was happily playing songs within a few months. If you teach yourself, you learn your own way and at your own pace, and waste no money. =]

The guitar, she is learning the guitar so she will get better and better
Even second-hand, guitars can be worth a lot of money, especially if they are in good condition. If you truly do not intend on learning guitar, then it is probably best to sell it. However, guitar playing is a truly entertaining, fulfilling and worthwhile hobby, and you should reconsider learning before logging onto eBay.

No i ate mine.
I think a keyboard is easier to learn and more logical than learning guitar chords. Guitars have a certain coolness and of course many teen idols play guitar like Sweet Baby James.
I will vote for Jamorama. Very informative course. you'll get there all the theory+videos. Still, I think it's better to start with private teacher but if you cannot afford the investment I would go for Jamorma...

You can invest in an expensive usb adapter or usb guitar if you want.Or you can get a 3.5mm minijack adaptor that will connect your guitar cord to your soundcard. You will have to adjust the gain and volume for best performance. To record your acoustic guitar the best course is to buy a condenser microphone.
