1. What do you have?
2. What do you wear?
3. What are you comfortable with?
4. What are the expectations of your department?
There are others, but you get the picture. The first rule of a gunfight is to bring a gun. Some prefer full size autos, basically because you are never off duty, while others prefer small caliber weapons...just in case.
It is entirely your choice. The best one is the one you have.

∙ 15y agoThere is no one "best" gun. A gun that works well for one person may be too big or too for another person to shoot accurately. Generally speaking, the "best" gun is one that is reliable and that the individual can shoot well.

∙ 15y agoMagazine article after magazine article has been written on this subject and there is no real definitive answer. It all dpeends on the caliber and stopping power of the weapon balanced against the ease and conceealment of the weapon.

∙ 15y agoAny small gun that can be easily concealed such as a Glock Model 26 (9mm) or a Smith & Wessen airweight 5-shot revolver (.38 caliber). I personally carry the Glock. It holds 13 rounds and is relatively small. Trying to conceal a large weapon is a hassel. The 9mm round has decent stopping power as well. I would avoid anything less than a .380 caliber.

For any person, male or female, the best gun to carry is a gun that fits the person's hands properly, and that fits the person's carry requirements. Some people want a tiny pocket gun, some women want a gun that can be dropped into a purse, some women will actually carry a gun in a holster, so, in short, it depends on the person.

There is no one "best" for everything. A Hammerli Olympic grade target pistol may be an excellent firearm for one specific competition, and fare poorly in another. A Ruger Mk III may be the leader in another competition, but is far to big for easy concealed carry as a defensive firearm. Depends on what you want the pistol to do.

You can, but that person can also be held liable for anything you do with their firearm, which is exactly why it is recommended not to loan a firearm to anyone else.

Not possible to give you a single answer- depends on best for WHAT? The VP70Z was a full auto machine pistol, and the p9S a target pistol. Each a good gun for its purpose. The P7 series would be a good concealed carry gun, etc. Some folks like chocolate, some like strawberry- and the best ice cream or best pistol is a matter of opinion.
