I would say the best horse for a child is welsh sections! Theyre great they suit all disciplines but are a little edgy sometimes! For familys a good Cob never fails most are bomb proof and suit familys for hacking , schooling and local eventing! Or maybe a small Quarter Horse. There's calm and very versatile.

Hi ok so this is a different person wrting now. From totally different places. Welsh ponies are so bad. And if you are going to get a Welsh pony get a Gelding. Not a mare. My mare thru me off and bucked and reared and was very tempermental. Quarter horses and T-bred, and QH crosses are great though! Like a mutt between the two and a short one. Good luck and I dont mean to disagree about the welsh ponys but theyre not the best for kids.. ponys are much smarter then horses.

THIS IS JY- I suggest the connemara because it is sweet-tempered, and an easy ride. It is used for riding, jumping, and hunting. The colors for the connemara is mostly grey or white. This pony has a medium-lengthed head, good lenght of reins, sloping shoulders, compact, and a well-balanced body.

I agree, I think connemaras are the best! Mine adores kids and is so sweet and very good. They can be good mounts for beginners or even when you get to jumping. I love them!

Is it best to get a male horse castrated?

If it is a breeding horse, than no. But be sure when mares go into heat that they stay out of sight, and away from the mare, or the horse will go at any costs to breed. They can be dangerous, so you should castrate as soon as possible at birth.

Why geld a horse?

Gelding a horse means that it can no longer breed. If a horse can't breed, then you can't sell the babies for profit. In conclusion, gelding the horses is a bad decision. But, if a horse is gelded, then you won't have to worry about the horse accidentally breeding with other horses at your stables.

How do you breed your capall?

If you are talking about Capalls.com, as I would assume, you would go to the page of the horse you want to breed. Then you scroll down and it should say (if it is old enough, which is 1 year 2 months) something like "Breeding Fee". You click on that and you set your breeding fee, and then you go to the Breeding Barn and you scroll down until you see that horse's name. If it is all vaccinated, groomed, etc. (and if it happens to be female and you have not bred it in the last week), then you click on that horse's Breeding Info and click on the button that says something along the lines of "Breed this Capall." Then you find the horse you want to breed with and just click. hope this helps :)
