sharpie is the best type of permanent marker.
A Sharpy fine point marker is good. It does not erase easily.

Permanent if you want it to be that. OR Whiteboard Washable
Because CD covers are generally made of plastic or cardboard, the best marker to use in order to ensure and prevent smearing is by using a permanent marker such as a Sharpie. Permanent markers can be found in a variety of color and sizes at local office supply stores.
I fined that if you get some alcohol hand jell (the normal one works best not a perfumed or moisturising one) and apply where the permanent marker is and give it a scrub and then wipe it away with a cloth.
Use a flathead screwdriver to firmly push the front of the marker cover toward the tire or rear of the car while gently lifting up the marker cover. The marker cover should pop out, however, if it is the first time you have replaced the marker light, the cover will be a little tough to remove. BE CAREFUL not to use too much force because you can risk cracking the cover or chipping the car paint (my bad experience). When you pop the cover off, just twist the bulb holder counter clockwise to get to the bulb. Replace bulb and bulb holder, then pop the cover back in to place. Thanks, I used a sharpened chop stick so it didn't scratch the paint. I used the stated above techniques on a 2001 E320, and it works better than what the owner's manual shows. Best answer to a common question. Thanks.
A Melaleuca Product called Sol-U-Mel removes it the best
Sharpies are the leading permanent marker brand! if you use Clorox to try to remove it on a dry erase board, it will simply get discolored. Try nail polish remover. Quote. Don't listen to this person. He is wrong you asked what is the most permanent marker. The most permanent would be sharpie. He told you about cleaning that's all wrong. and king size sharpie would do the best job for you:) (spelling edited by girlpolice)

Toothpaste will get marker out of football shirts, keep re-applyying until out and wash with warm water.
Your best bet is to use alcohol. Permanent markers use alcohol soluble inks. Most white board cleaners have it as an ingredient.
You can try lighter fluid. Like the Zippo cigarette lighter fluid. This product is good for removing many things. Not sure if it will take off permanent marker but it is worth a try. use nail polish remover, i find it is the best thing.
