Personal flotation device (PFD) are stored onboard depending on the size of the boat. Anyone in the boat should wear a PFD - sailing dinghy, rowing boat, jet ski, canoe, and wind surfing.

The best place to put it is on your body, fastened in place. It does not work with a hoot if you are not wearing it. Last year we investigated a double night time fatality- 2 drowned boaters. We found their PFDs. They were nice and neat- still in the plastic bags they were in when they were purchased. Not only were they not being worn, they had never been taken out of their bags.
