Dwarves, Goliaths, Half-orcs, Dragonborn, and Warforged are all very good choices. Each has their upsides, so choose based on personal preference:
- Dwarves - Dwarven weapon specialization feat
- Goliaths - Very tough and strength bonus
- Dragonborn - Very tough, strength bonus, and Dragons Breath
- Half-orc - Very tough, strength bonus, and Half-orc Resiliance
- Warforged - Very tough, Mechanical, look really cool

∙ 12y agoMy own personal opinion is that Elves are the best race, followed by Half-Elf, then human. Elves just have a better chance to move silently, hide without being seen, hear things and see things over other "standard" races. I suppose Orcs and Half-Orcs would also be good, though intelligence may hamper those choices.
