The water-hammer in a pump systems is created in the pump zone, so the best way to attack the negative wave pressure that will born there (and travel along the pipe, back and forth) is by injecting fluid, so that it counteracts the fall in the pressure in a good deal.

This has no relation to the diameter of the pipe. Of course, the larger the diameter, the more water will have to be injected, but it won´t change your protecting device. The only ones who inject water as soon as the water hammer occurs are the pressure vessels and an air chamber (open to atmosphere), as long as the latter is located at the pump zone. But for this it would have to very high (for the water level in it to reach the piezometric line since its open to atmosphere) leaving it as a non-usual option. That´s why pressure vessels are so used.

How does pressure change with variations in flow rate and diameter in a fluid system?

In a fluid system, pressure increases with higher flow rate and decreases with larger diameter.

How much larger is the diameter of the largest planet than the diameter of earth?

The largest planet in the solar system is Jupiter, with a diameter 11.209 times that of the Earth

The ratio of the diameter of the Moon to the diameter of the Earth is 0.25 Is the ratio for the Charon-Pluto system larger or smaller than this?

The ratio of the diameter of Pluto to the diameter of its moon Charon is about 1:1, making it larger than the ratio of the diameter of the Moon to Earth, which is 0.25:1. This means Charon is relatively much larger compared to Pluto than the Moon is to Earth.

Is Saturn 9 times larger than Earth?

Which moons are larger than planets?

Pluto's equatorial diameter is 2,274 km. The diameter of Earth's moon is 3,476 km. Jupiter has four moons larger than Pluto:-Ganymede - diameter 5,262 kmCallisto - diameter 4,800 kmIo - diameter 3,630 kmEuropa - diameter 3,138 kmSaturn has one moon larger than Pluto - Titan - diameter 5,150 kmNeptune has one moon larger than Pluto - Triton - diameter 2,700 kmThus, there are seven moons larger than Pluto in our Solar System.

Is the diameter of Charon smaller than the diameter of the rings around Saturn?

Much smaller. Consider, the diameter of the rings of Saturn are larger than Saturn itself, and Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. The rings of Saturn have a diameter of about 280,000 Kilometers. Charon has a diameter of about 1,200 kilometers. In other words the rings of Saturn are are more than 200 times larger than Charon.

How does Saturn rank in size to other planets of the solar system?

Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system. Only Jupiter is larger.

What is the biggest super moon?

The record for the largest moon in the solar system goes to Ganymede at 5268 km in diameter. The Earth's moon by comparison is the 5th largest moon in the solar system at 3474 km in diameter. It is larger that the dwarf planet formerly known as Pluto which has a diameter of 2322 km, but it is smaller than the smallest planet Mercury at 4880 km in diameter.

How big is the planet Mercury?

Mercury is the second smallest planet; only Pluto is smaller. Mercury's diameter is 4879 km, while Earth's is 12,756 km. In fact, Mercury is not much larger than our Moon, which has a diameter of 3475 km. Source: http://www.messenger-education.org/elusive_planet/fastfact_5.php
