If you just went into battle: Quick Balls
If you have been battling them for a long time: Timer Balls If it's been a short time since you started: Ultra Balls, or Great Balls. If it's at night: Dusk Balls
If you use False Swipe, and it has one HP: Cherish Balls.

∙ 10y agoSome people say that the best way to catch Zapdos varies from game to game, but generally a few tips are the same. Try to get him down to less than 10-15 health, and then put him to sleep or confuse him (asleep is better). Use a Great Ball or better. A regular pokeball will likely get you nowhere.

Otherwise, you will have to train your other Pokemons to at least level 40 or higher to be able to lower Zapdos' HP down (Zapdos is Level 50). Then have a Pokemon that can put Zapdos to sleep which will enable the chance to catch it (Zapdos will dodge the ball if not asleep). It is recommended that you use Ultra Balls to have even a chance to catch it. Stock up on Potions and Ultra Balls, and you should be able to catch Zapdos sooner or later.
