salt is probably the most gruesome and effective method of killing slugs without getting your hands dirty, yet im guessing that your intending on keeping them out of your vegetable garden in which case salt would be an inappropriate method. your best bet is to go to your local garden centre and buy some slug pellets but if your into economical solutions, you can always crush up egg shells into shards and sprinkle them around your plants so that the shards of shell discourage them as they dont want to crawl over sharp things.

In a glass jar or tank- they aren't that big and the glass walls are too slippery to climb. They like soft veggies and dandelion leaves- a few sticks to climb wouldn't be all too bad. Put some plastic wrap over the top, tape down for lid or use a rubber band. Poke air holes in every centimeter block for ventilage. Put water drops on food and leaves- will prevent them from drying and shriveling up to death :P

The best way to get rid of slugs is to regularly put salt on them, or put seasoned salt on them because the spices of the seasoned salt usually never absorbs in water, although, the spices are really intense to the slug's skin, so it shrivels up and DIES.

You can't really kill ALL the slugs, especially if there are many of them; that would be like trying to kill all the caterpillars in your yard.

One way to eliminate a slug, however, is to pour salt on it.
Put a saucer of beer (stale, leftover, etc.) near the plants being eaten by slugs. The saucer will be full of dead ones the next day. Getting rid of the dead slugs is the messy part.

salt! there are also some pretty good snail baits in gardening depts. of many hardware stores. if you can afford it, look for a product called deadline (with metaldehyde) many pros use it although not cheap, but works very well.

It may sound crazy, but salt really is the best way to kill slugs. Or there is slug spray to repel and kill them.
