After extended use earbuds can get dirty rather fast especially if you use in-ear earbuds. The best way to clean them is use a mixture of warm water and soap and wipe them down with a gentle cloth.
According to recent polls the best earbuds currently available on the market are the JH Audio JH13 Pro earbuds running at a price of $1,099.00. But in my opinion the earbuds that worked best for me where the original ones you get when you buy the ipod.
The earbuds with the best sound quality that I have found are manufactured buy Skullcandy. There are many different styles he can choose from and they all have amazing soound quality.
Noise cancellation earbuds can be found in sports stores with hunting supplies, or in warehouse stores with the health information. The best type of earbuds to cancel noise will be the type used with hunting because these cancel high pitch noises out.

There are many retailers which sell wireless earbuds. For instance, some of the companies which sell wireless earbuds are Sharper Image or Amazon. Additionally, a person may purchase wireless earbuds from Best Buy, Frys, or Outdoor Tech.

Although you can get used earbuds inexpensively online, I would encourage you to buy new ones for hygienic reasons. You can find new earbuds at a reasonable cost at well know sites such as Amazon, Staples and Best Buy.
SonySony....REALLY??? Is that the best you could do??? There are numerous earbuds but you need to ask youself what you are willing to spend. You can get them upwards of $400 but you can also get decent earbuds for $50. If you want the best you might want to check out Klipsch and this goes without saying, but Bose makes a great product. There are a few models but the Klipsch Image X10 are one of the best. You can check into Ultimate Ear if you really want the best. They make custom fitted earbuds but you will pay. You'll get the best but you'll pay. Shure makes excellent earbuds. Westone is another good brand. Monster Turbine Pro Copper are a good quality earbud. OK, those are the expensive brands. Now these are the more affordable but quality earbuds. Personally, I like Monster Turbine earbuds. They are cheaper than the Monster Turbine Pro Copper but they have a lot of the same technology. Also, the Klipsch Image S4 is one of the cheapest Klipsch models and you can't go wrong with Klipsch. I haven't done a lot of research on the Sennheiser earbuds but from what little I have done, they seem to be a decent earbud. Sennheiser is another brand that has earbuds at both ends of the financial spectrum. If you want to drop down into the $20 range, I like Skullcandy. Pioneer earbuds are great and a little less expensive. Rockford Fosgate earbuds are decent too. Now you have a little more information than just "Sony"......duhhh.
It is best to fix it with a wax specifically for glass with a scratch remover in it.
