Of the "rod of iron," Jesus says this to His saints: "...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of My Father..." (Rev.2:26-27).

The vivid description is unmistakable.

The fulfillment of the establishment of the Kingdom of God on the earth shall virtually smash all of man's governments on the earth, and shall become the one, single global Government of God.

Jesus preached, "The Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:15) Gospel means - GOOD NEWS.

The Kingdom of God was Jesus' message. It was the substance of His parables. It was His promise to His disciples. And it was the expectation of Rome-governed Judea as He went about healing and feeding and preaching the good news.

In Daniel 2 and 7 are two major prophecies of the advent of the coming Kingdom of God depicting the rod-of-iron end of man's rule on earth:

"...and in the days of these kings shall the God of Heaven set up a Kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall BREAK IN PIECES AND CONSUME ALL THESE KINGDOMS, and it shall stand for ever." (Dan.2:44)

"...the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom... the judgment shall sit... and the Kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the Kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him. Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart." (Dan.7:21-28)

The "gospel" (good news) of God is the establishment of the Kingdom of God on the earth. That requires the utter rod-of-iron destruction of the governments of man.

Jesus is prophesied to return at the "last trump." In Revelation, when the seventh (last) trump sounds: "...the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever... and the nations were angry, and Thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that Thou shoudlest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear Thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth." (Rev.11:15-18)

Additional Comments:

The rod of iron is the word of God. It leads to the fruit of the tree of life, which fruit is a representation of the love of God; and whosoever holds fast to the rod iron shall partake of that fruit.>
