I've seen them with a 502 big block. Just depends on how much work you want to do to it. Most big blocks won't clear the A/C housing if yours is so equipped. You'll also need heavier front coil springs and probably headers designed for the swap.

You can also put a 3.4 engine in the Malibu. 3400swap.com for more info. Lindersinc.com to get the engine. I have a 3400 in mine out of a 2004 Impala and it runs well and accelarates smoothly.

yes you do. jack up under engine, put a block on jack so not to hurt engine, only put enough tension to re move left motor mount .then replace belt,put mount back on, lower jack, then check mount bolts fo tightness. 3.1 Chevy engine in 2000 Malibu!!
If you know what you are doing you can put ANY engine that you want in it. Small are BIG block. They will all fit.
