These are called macrophases and lymphocytes. The function of these cells is to destroy the pathogens and protect the body in the future if they ever come again. MACROPHAGES consume and destroy the pathogens while the lymphocytes make chemicals called ANTIBODIES that cause the pathogens to clump together which makes it much easier for the macrophages to consume it and destroy it at once.
