The crankcase is the inside of the bottom of the engine where the crankshaft is bolted in the engine. The oil pan covers it all up.
The crankcase on ALL engines is at the bottom of the engine, covering the crankshaft (that's where the name Crank-Case comes from) and holds the oil in the engine.

It is the plug with the number 4 written on on the very bottom of the crankcase.
Its called a PCV Positive crankcase ventilation. Its the little gadget that plugs into the top of the valve cover. Pull it out and it will rattle. That means its good.
