There are many bridges in New York. The most famous of them is the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. which is one of the newist and longest between Brooklyn & Staten Island... The Truely most Famous and Historical is the Brooklyn Bridge which was finished in the 1880's and led to a better understanding of the Decompression nessisary to prevent "the Bends" which affected and killed numerous workers and the designer too. The George Washington Bridge spans the Hudson River between Fort Lee New Jersey and northen most Manhattan, The Former Triboro bridge has been renamed but was called TRiboro because it lands in The Bronx, Manhattan and Queens, The Whitestone Bridge from "whitestone" neighborhood in queens to the Bronx and the Throggs Neck does as well but a few miles East.... One other VERY Famous bridge in NYC Most folks don't even think about these Days its the Railroad bridge that enters NYC from the northeast, heres another of the "smaller" bridges The Macooms Dam Bridge Crosses the Harlem River just a stone throw from Yankee Stadium is is said to the the 3rd oldest IN NYC. Its Hard to believe that Ferry services between The island and Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx mainland, as well as Train ferries were used well into the 20th century....
