In 1898, the capital of the Yukon was Dawson City. It became the capital during the Klondike Gold Rush as it was the main hub for miners and settlers flocking to the region in search of gold. Dawson City was pivotal for trade and services during this time, although the capital was later moved to Whitehorse in 1953.
