Yes. It is possible for poverty to cause children to be obese for two reasons. One, sometimes in poverty alot of people just look for the cheapest thing to eat and in many cases it will be fast food (McDonalds, Wendys etc.). Another reason is that when growing chldren don't get the vitamins they need it can cause their stomach to swell, causing them to appear 'obese'. Hope this helps!

I don't think so, but just like people being obese can cause serous health issues that can cause death. So being fat by itself doesn't but the issues that come with it can.
