∙ 14y agoCC means "carbon copy." It is useful when you want to copy another recipient the same email message. You just type in another email address in that field. Each recipeint (in the TO and CC fields) will be aware of who else got sent the same email. On the other hand BCc (Blind carbon copy) recipients will not know who else was sent the email nor will other recipients (in To, Cc and BCc) know about any Bcc recipients.

∙ 14y agoThe cc: field in an eMail header is a list of the addresses of "Carbon Copy" recipients. It works just like the to: field, except that the recipients can see whether they were primary to: recipients or cc: recipients.

What the difference between Cc and To in email?
cc means copies to. Here you put a list of e-mail addresses you want to get a copy. It just basically gives you space to put more people to send to.

CC(Carbon Copy) is just another recipient to be sent a copy of the email. When you send an email with an email in the 'To' field and an email in the 'CC' field, the person in the 'To' field can see who was in the CC feild, although if you use BCC (Blind Carbon Copy), they can't.

Receivers - pre computer/email, CC was the acronym for "carbon copy". This was the second copy of an original letter, sent to another person(s) for information purposes (produced by putting carbon paper between the letterhead (top copy) and the carbon copy). In the arena of computing, CC is still used to send a "copy" of the email to other persons who are not usually expected to act upon it's contents, it is merely to advise them that the email has been sent to the main recipient. The BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) section is for the same reason but, whereas the CC is visible to all recipients the bcc is invisible to everyone.
