The eating habits of animals are the result of a long period of evolutionary history, and during most of that history, human beings were not producing any kind of pollution. People can adapt more rapidly than other animals because we can learn about things and understand them much more easily than animals can. Animals mostly rely on instinct, and instinct does not change that rapidly.
