As the Pressure of the gas being measured increases the height of the fluid in the Manometer Tube increases. The reverse is also true. The graduations of the Manometer Tube gives you a reading of the Gas Pressure being measured.

What instrument measures the pressure in an enclosed container of gas?

A manometer is an instrument that can be used to measure the pressure in an enclosed container that is filled with gas. The manometer is sometimes called a pressure gauge.

How do you experimentally determine the pressure of the unknown when its a gas?

You can use a manometer.

What are manometer?

what is a manometer? and what is application of manometer in industrial? A Manometer is a device which can be used to measure pressure of fluids(i.e liquids and Gases). PRINCIPLE: Manometers are those pressure measuring devices which are based on the principle of balancing the column of liquid(whose pressure is to be found) by the same or another column of liquid. They are of two types 1. simple manometers 2.Differential manometers simple manometers are those which measure pressure at a point in a fluid containing in the pipe or a vessel. On the other hand Differential manometers measure the difference of pressure between any two points in a fluid contained in a pipe or vessel. Industrial applications: Pressure guages are used for a variety of industrial and application specific pressure monitering applications. visual monitering of air and gas pressure for compressors,Vaccum equipment and speciality tank applications such as medical gas cylinders, fire extinguishers,

A manometer is used to measure?

an instrument for measuring the pressure of a fluid, consisting of a tube filled with a liquid, the level of the liquid being determined by the fluid pressure and the height of the liquid being indicated on a scale

What is a safe reading on a manometer that is used for Radon detection?

I don't know the specific answer but it won't be a manometer. That measures small gas pressures.

What is an open arm manometer?

It is a type of manometer, an object used to measure the pressure of different things, and the open armed manometer allows for the atmospheric pressure in the tube of the manometer. So the sample gas pressure pushes on the mercury that is already being pushed on by the atmospheric pressure. Then you add the atmospheric pressure to the change in the mercury (in mm) and that gives you your pressure. It's like a tire gauge.

Function of manometer?

The function of a manometer is to measure the pressure of a fluid, usually a gas or a liquid. It consists of a sealed tube filled with the fluid being measured, with one end open to the environment and the other end connected to the source of pressure. As the pressure changes, the fluid in the manometer rises or falls, allowing the measurement of the pressure.

Laboratory instrument used to measure pressure of a contained gas?

the manometer is frequently used

A closed-end manometer has a U-tube with a sample of oxygen gas in the bulb The difference in the height of the columns of mercury is 16.5 cm What is the pressure of the hydrogen gas in torr?

How does gas thermometer functioning?

A gas thermometer measures temperature by the variation in volume or pressure of a gas.One common apparatus is a constant volume thermometer. It consists of a bulb connected by a capillary tube to a manometer. The bulb is filled with a gas such that the volume of the gas in the bulb remains constant. The volume is related to temperature by k, known as Charles's Law . The pressure of the gas in the bulb can be obtained by measuring the level difference in the two arms of the manometer. Gas thermometers are often used to calibrate other thermometers.

What is the pressure of the sample of gas trapped in the open-tube mercury manometer shown below if atmospheric pressure is 736 mmHg and h equals 9.2 cm?

(736-92)= 644 mmHG

What measures the pressure of a gas or vapor?

Gas pressure can be measured using several different instruments including:Hydrostatic gauges - like a manometer or barometerPiston gauges - like tire pressure gaugesMechanical gauges - which use deflection of diaphragm, a capsule, or a set of bellows, which will change shape in response to the pressure of the region in questionBourdon tube - a type of mechanical gauge that uses a coiled tube (Bourdon tube) that deflects with pressureElectronic - including:Piezo resistive Strain GageCapacitiveMagneticPiezoelectricOpticalPotentiometricResonantThermal conductivity (conductivity of gasses changes with density - has to be calibrated to the gas)Ionization (best for low pressure gases - has to be calibrated to the gas)

What could you do to change volume of a gas?

Change the pressure and/or the temperature of the gas.
