Light can not change direction by passing from one kind of mater to another. In fact, light can only pass through its own type of matter, which is when things like light can go through each other (and only a few types of matter can do that), but even in that case since it can go through, it can't be bent in angle by passing through.

Refraction
Refraction is the change in direction of a wave when it reaches a boundary between two media due to traveling at different speeds in each medium.
Scattering is an interaction of light with matter that causes light to change its energy, direction of motion, or both. so the plain answer is scattering the particles.
refraction
refraction
Refraction, when the light passes through matter and is bent, or reflection, when the light bounces off.
It is the extent of the change in the direction of light as it passes from one transparent medium to another.
Waves only change direction when they intersect the other medium at an incident angle of other than 90o
REFRACTION
The direction of the wave will eventually change to where the wind is blowing.
Refraction phenomenon Typically, the change in wave speed in the material causes the change in direction.
Once the light leaves the source, its frequency doesn't change, no matter what ittravels through or what kind of exciting adventure it encounters. But if it passes from one medium to another one with a different index ofrefraction, then the speed and wavelength change, and the direction of aray of light may change.
