The cheapest hard drives I have found are those little portable ones.The brand is western digital and if you wait until around august when school starts back, you can find one on sale.I got a 500 gb one for 55 dollars, it was a great deal, we still use it.

Often there is no difference between a brand name hard drive and a generic one. They are often made in the same factories, but have different stickers on them. Sometimes the name brands will include extra software on the drives, but that generally is the only difference.
rock auto has the cheapest parts and all are name brand.
The cheapest painter would have to be the one with the boy in a blue cap on the front. I am not sure of the name of that brand but I do not see that brand as a luxe paint.
Seagate is a top branded name. It is better than toshiba.

What interface it uses. IDE, SCSI, SATA. ect.. How fast does the drive spin? Faster spin rates normally means a faster hard drive. How much cache ram does the hard drive have. Usually more is better there as well. What form factor is the hard drive. Is it for a laptop or Desktop computer? What is the memory storage size of the drive? How long is the Warranty? Is it a brand name? How hard is it to return the drive if it is defective? Do you have to pay to ship it back? Will the hard drive be banged around alot? If so you may want to consider getting a solid state drive. Also called a SSD.
