The Colosseum is/was a large circular arena.

The Roman arenas were the amphitheatres. They were not necessarily circular. They were often oval. They hosted gladiatorial combats, venationes (animal slaying), chariot contests and executions. They differed from theatres which were semicircular, circuses which were very long (they hosted horse races with and without chariots) and the stadia used for athletics.Around 230 amphitheatres have been found

They didn't have the same sports we have today. They used the Colosseum for Mock sea battles, Gladiator battles, and chariot racing. They also loved blood sport with animals organs. They liked to watch men fight tigers and lions. And i can say usually they got entertainment out of watching the people lose. It was not very often the people won. Why were the Romans not necessarily original thinkers?

The Romans adopted the philosophy, sports, medicine, siege machines, and cranes of the Greeks. Latin literature first developed by using Greek models of drama and comedy. However, this does not mean that they were not original thinkers. They developed what they adopted their own way and did develop their own ideas. Moreover, Roman architecture and engineering, and the ideas behind them, were the most advanced ones in antiquity.

What is spourt?

I am assuming you mean "sport." This refers to a physical activity that often involves competition. Some sports are played by teams, such as football or basketball, while others are played by individuals such as tennis or golf. Some sports are played for fun, by people who like that activity and treat it as a hobby; other sports are played by talented athletes who are paid for their skills. Sports that are played for money are often called "professional sports," while sports that are played just for enjoyment are sometimes called "amateur sports" or if they are played at a university, they may be called "collegiate sports."
