There are several areas in Rwanda and Congo that are called "Virunga". I live in Virunga National Park in Congo. The weather can be quite pleasant in the southern part, but at times it can rain, thunder, and lightening quite intensely. If you are climbing Nyiragongo volcano, it will be VERY cold. If you're hiking to see the gorillas, it will be pleasant but hard work, and when it rains it's cold.
Virunga National Park was created in 1925.
The area of Virunga National Park is 7,800 square kilometers.
there are like 560 gorilla rserves
There are three hundred and fifty elephants living in Virunga at this present time. But the population is destined to drop as Africa has ended the ban on poaching elephants.
The Virunga Mountains are located in East Africa, straddling the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This volcanic mountain range is known for its lush forests and being home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas.
