Simply stated; it is the most common code indicating a problem with your ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor. In and of itself this is not a huge deal (read not expensive and easy self-repair). But do deal with it right away - it affects many other components. If it is allowed to provide invalid inputs to the PCM (power control module - the "computer") for any length of time - it will produce a domino effect that will drive you nuts. Having said all that - be sure that the sensor is not actually trying to tell you something important about the status of your engine. Does your temperature indicator on the instrument cluster appear to be at its normal position?
