I'm from Alaska. In the winter it can get to the below zeros, but the coldest I can remember was last winter and it get to -50 F. In the summers it get pretty hot (for me) it's usually between the 60s F and 80s F.

as far as I know, Alaska is probably the coldest state in the us. That depends on if you are looking also with the added wind chill. In the 1990's "Top of the World" Barrow, Alaska had a fierce wind storm-bringing the daily temperature down to nearly -100 degrees Fahrenheit. Down at the bottom of Alaska, the kenai peninsula, the winter of 2008 had recorded temperatures of -30 and far below.
