According to an article in CBS News back in 2003, the body of water surrounding Antarctica is the coldest body of water on Earth.

Antarctica is the coldest area on Earth. The coldest recorded temperature in the Earth is -80 C in Vostok Research Center, Antarctica.
Antarctica, where the temperature reached -129°F (-89.4°C) on 21 July 1983.
ANTARCTICA IS THE COLDEST, HIGHEST, DRIEST, WINDIEST PLACE ON EARTH! Only about two percent of Antarctica peeks through the thick sheets of ice that blanket the continent. In the winter, the lowest recorded temperatures (without wind chill!) have reached -89°C (-129°F). The continent averages 2.4 kilometers in height (1.5 miles) above sea level, making it 1.5 kilometers (almost a mile) higher than the global average land height! Each year the South Pole receives less than an inch of water......in the form of snow, of course! This amount of precipitation is similar to that of another desert, the Sahara! Katabatic winds, reaching 300 kilometers per hour (185 miles/hour), blow out of the continental interior and make the Antarctic coastal regions rather breezy. WHY Other than being a cool place to go, why should we care about Antarctica? Antarctica is an important part of Earth's system. By acting as a global heat sink, it helps control our climate and weather. The stability of the Antarctic ice sheets is of concern to those living in low-lying areas; they contain enough water to raise global sea level almost 70 meters. Antarctica holds 70% of Earth's freshwater, and 91% of Earth's ice! Antarctica influences our global ocean. Cold, dense, oxygen-rich waters originates in Antarctica and replenishes the ocean's supply of bottom water, helping to drive ocean circulation. The sea surrounding Antarctica supports marine life from tiny ice-dwelling algae to the great whales. Through investigations of Antarctica we will develop a better understanding of how this vast, ice-covered continent responds to environmental change. This knowledge will better enable us to predict the response of Earth's climate systems to future changes.
The lowest recorded surface temperature on Earth was in Vostok, Antarctica at -89 degrees Celsius (-128.2 degrees Fahrenheit).
The world's coldest place is Antarctica.
Antarctica is the coldest place on earth, primarily because of its polar location and the land mass of the continent, which retains cold.
Zero or -0.0075 Celsius below this temperature pure water is converted into ice.
I guess it is ..... I guess it is The coldest Place on Earth
The coldest place on Earth all year round is Antarctica, but no one inhabits this continent. The coldest city on Earth is Oymyakon, Russia.
Calgary has never been the coldest place on earth but it has been like 3rd or 4th
Oymyakon, Russia is the coldest inhabited place on Earth. The temperatures can reach minus 58 degrees F, the lowest temperature of any city in the world.
Antarctica is the coldest of Earth's continents.
I guess it is ..... I guess it is The coldest Place on Earth
No. It is one of the windiest, but it is not the coldest. The coldest place on Earth is Antarctica.
Due to high altitude it is the coldest place on the earth
No, Antarctica is the coldest desert on Earth.
Good question.Yes it is the coldest place on earth, to be exact vostok station is the coldest place on earth with arecord low of -89.2C.
No, Vostok Station in Antartica is the coldest place.
no
The coldest place on Earth all year round is Antarctica, but no one inhabits this continent. The coldest city on Earth is Oymyakon, Russia.
Antarctica is the coldest place on earth because the sun's rays hardly reach there.
Calgary has never been the coldest place on earth but it has been like 3rd or 4th
No, The tundra is the coldest place things live in nature. The poles are roughly the coldest place on earthEXCEPTIf you have ever been to Winnipeg, The corner of Portage and Main is the coldest place in the universe.
yes it is
