an acid turns the litmus paper red.
Litmus paper is basically used to test nature of solution i.e acid or alkaline. For acid blue litmus turns to red. But for alkaline red litmus turns to blue color.
If the solution contains acid, then the alkali turns the litmus to its original colour(blue). The color is effected by the concentration of the acid and the alkali.
im thinking it would turn red:)
The color is purple in a neutral solution.
The solution is a base. ( If it turned red, then the solution would be classified as an acid.)
just put a drop of solution on blue litmus paper. if litmus turn in to red color then solution is acid otherwise it is base .
Litmus will allow you to tell if a solution is a acid or a base.
In acid solution, blue colour of litmus is changed into red. In basic sol litmus change to blue.
If you add red litmus paper and it remains red, then you add blue litmus paper and it remains blue, then the the solution is neutral. Kamal
Acid: Red litmus
When litmus paper touches and acid, the paper changes to red. When it touches a base, the paper changes to blue. By comparing the color the litmus paper changed to by a chart, you could determine how strong or weak that acid or base is.
Litmus does not change color in sugar solution.
