The liver may start to bleed a great deal after the biopsy, but the chances of this is very small. Normally, the patient stays in the recovery area for a few hours after the procedure to be sure that there will be no excess bleeding. But even after the patient goes home, they can still start to bleed, but again, this is rare. The surgeon will tell you what to watch for after you go home.
